To deliver nursing care to patients withdrawing from drugs and alcohol and requiring substance abuse treatment and healthcare.
◦Works under direct supervision using Policies and Procedures and nursing judgment.
◦Delivers nursing care to patients requiring substance abuse treatment and health care.
◦Assess patient and make observations and reports pertinent information to appropriate staff.
◦Implements the patient and evaluates the patient response to care.
◦Directs and supervises medical care given by other staff members in selected situations.
◦Maintains knowledge of necessary documentation requirements.
◦Maintains confidentiality and patient rights, regarding all patient personnel information.
◦Provides patient/family/caregiver education.
◦Conducts self in a professional manner in compliance with unit and facility policies.
◦Works rotating shifts, holidays and weekends as scheduled.
◦Initiates emergency support measures (i.e CPR, protects patients from injury).
◦Participants in the identification of staff educational needs.
◦Serves as a preceptor, as delegated, for new staff.
◦Maintain patient care supplies, equipment and environment.
◦Participates in the development of unit objectives.
◦Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care.
EDUCATION,EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
•Prior substance abuse experience
•Must posses a current, unencumbered license to practice as a LPN in this state.
•Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
•Must posses the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
•Must be able to relate information concerning a patient/resident condition.
•Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
•Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
•Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable the senses to function adequately, to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met (i.e., accurately read measurements on patient related equipment such as thermometers, monitors, gauges).
•Must be able to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with patients, staff personnel, and support agencies.
•Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
•Must be able to relate and work with the disabled, ill, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
•Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
•Must be able to assist with the evacuation of patients.
•Nurse is a high risk for exposure to blood and body fluids or other potentially infectious materials.
•Can deal with multiple projects in stressful environment.
•Represents self and agency well
