Description:

(1) Oversight and responsibility of daily clinical operations (24/7) responsibility. Ability to adjust schedule as needed to departmental needs.
(2) Responsibility for monthly schedules and daily assignments.
(3) Project Management:
• Ability to perform oversight and lead several performance improvement projects at once, working in conjunction with ED leadership, Quality leadership, and Nursing Department leadership.
• Ability to track and trend performance of projects.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and create strategy from data.
• Ability to follow performance management applications such as A3, PDSA, Lean, and then transcribe projects onto visual displays such as PowerPoint, Posters, Abstracts, etc.
(4) Oversight and Lead for Special Pathogen & Emergency Preparedness:
• Ensure compliance with regulatory aspects of communicable disease, isolation practices, Donning and Doffing Training, and PPE supplies.
• Work directly with the Emergency Management/Preparedness department to ensure performance in ED related drills.
• Ensure the department is educated on new DOH informational alerts and practices.
(5) Ability to manage a team and direct managerial reports.
(6) Ability to network and liaison interdepartmentally and with community resources.
(7) Develop and perform regulatory readiness practices.
(8) Perform in a fiscally responsible manner with oversight of resource usage, overtime, and staffing coordination.
(9) In collaboration with Nursing Education and Director of Nursing, plan and implement orientation for new staff.
(10) Recognize opportunities to perform service recovery, and develop strategies and plan to proactively improve patient experience. Trained in ICARE principles and displays the ICARE values in the work setting.
(11) Use appropriate labor relation principles and disciplinary procedures.

Job Requirements

1. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3), below.
2. Masters Degree in Nursing Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty or equivalent field and five years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which three years shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and six years of satisfactory nursing experience, four years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity.
3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
