Job Description RN Staff Nurse

Basic Function:
Responsible for directing, performing, and supporting day to day care provided to residents; supports and facilitates the nursing care delivery system.

Primary Job Duties:
1. Assess resident health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. May advise residents on health maintenance and disease prevention.
2. Responsible fore directing, supervising and evaluating resident care.
3. Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual resident and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
4. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
5. Supports and facilitates the nursing care delivery system.
6. Assists in the resources by staff; supports and maintains quality assurance, infection control, resident rights, safety and regulatory standards.
7. Resolves resident problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
8. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
9. Documents resident care services by charting in patient and department records.
10. Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating action, irregularities, and continuing needs.
11. Assist in investigations of all resident care issues and assists in coordinating action plans.
12. Preform and/or initiate or maintain IV lines, solutions, medications etc.
13. Assist in assuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors.
14. Audits to ensure consistent high quality of care and service.
15. Ensures competition of assignments by mentoring, monitoring and tracking progress.
16. Maintains current working knowledge of state and federal regulatory stands pertaining to nursing and nursing care.
17. Supports positive relationships internal and external to St. Joseph Senior Living.
18. Serves as spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the St. Joseph Senior Living.
19. Completes other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Director of Nursing.
20. Immediately report suspected or actual abuse, mistreatment, neglect, exploitation and misappropriation of property to the CEO/Administrator in accordance with the policy set forth in the employee handbook.
21. Immediately report suspected or actual injury received while in the commission of my position to my immediate supervisor.
22. Contact the Director of Nursing if I believe that a resident’s private health information was improperly disclosed.
23. Insures a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors at all times.
24. Supports and maintains quality assurance, residents’ rights and safety regulatory standards.

Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent clinical and nursing skills. Good verbal and written communication and listening skills, the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Must be able to be flexible/adaptable in all situations. The ability to be professional and produce a high quality of work. The ideal candidate must be a skilled communicator, director and motivator. Must be able to organize and prioritize many tasks effectively. Must have a knowledge base the allows for educating others.

Education/Experience
Must hold a Nursing degree from an accredited school; current, unencumbered, active Ohio RN license. Must be computer literate to complete tasks as required. At least 1 years of experience in skilled nursing/long term care. Must have the ability to react to emergency situations appropriately when required.
