RN Neuro Stepdown - Per Diem - Days

We are seeking a compassionate and high-performing Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 30-bed Neuro Stroke Stepdown Unit on a per diem basis in Chicago, IL. This unit specializes in caring for post-stroke and neurointerventional patients in a stepdown or COU (Clinical Observation Unit) setting. Ideal candidates will be confident in managing patients with neurological deficits and committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:
-Provide direct nursing care to patients in a neuro stepdown/telemetry setting
-Monitor and manage post-stroke and post-neurointerventional patients
-Perform and interpret EKGs, assess neuro changes, and communicate changes in condition promptly
-Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to deliver safe and effective care
-Document all care accurately using EPIC EMR
-Administer medications, monitor telemetry, and manage equipment as needed
-Collaborate with neurologists, rehab teams, and care coordinators to optimize patient recovery
-Float to similar units as needed (e.g., Telemetry, Stepdown)

Requirements:
-Active Illinois RN license (Required)
-BLS and ACLS certification (AHA – Required)
-NIHSS certification (Required)
-Proficiency in EPIC EMR (Required)
-Ability to perform EKGs independently (Required)
-Minimum 1 year of experience in a stepdown or neuro/tele unit (Preferred)
-Strong neuro assessment skills and critical thinking required
