Must have the ability to care for all pediatric patients
Deliver safe, age appropriate care under critical situations with children who have cardiac, respiratory; gastrointestinal; genitourinary; orthopedic; and neurological dysfunction.
Exercise judgment within the guidelines of the medical plan of care, department policy and licensure practice act.
Assess patients in order to plan, intervene, and evaluate care.
Apply scientific knowledge; use a variety of equipment; and perform multiple technical procedures.
Proactively advocate for patients and consistently educate the family from time of admission until time of dismissal.
Utilize ability to demonstrate and apply the technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively and safely care for patients/family and to be an effective member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Educational Qualifications/Licensure/Certifications:

Degree/Education: Nurses shall have successfully completed the undergraduate or graduate degree appropriate to the sub-specialty.
Licensure/Registration: Valid license in at least one (1) state territory or commonwealth of the US.
Board Certification.
Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience within the preceding 3-years in pediatric intensive care unit. Will consider applicants with a combined minimum of 2 years neonatal ICU/pediatric ICU experience and ability to pass written PICU competency.
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: In addition to BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) required to work on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Additional qualifications:

Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
Shall be sufficiently skilled to teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing.
Shall be knowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients. The contract RN shall demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the appropriate patient population served: infants, children, adolescent, adults, and geriatric (>65).
Possess knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders/conditions, diagnostic studies and treatments related to prevention, and detection of illnesses in adults, is desirable.
Be knowledgeable in professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience in assessing adult and geriatric patients, as appropriate.
Possess knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
Be a U.S. citizen.
