Director of Nursing
This position will have the responsibility of Directing the clinical and accreditation activities for the Tribeca Surgical Suites. The Director of Nursing will lead and manage the Nursing Staff and help coordinate patient care at the facility.
This is a full-time position. It is estimated that this position will be divided into approximately 50% ORs (AAASF-office ORs and 50% office. On surgical days, you will be the first nurse to arrive in the morning at 6:30 am and will not leave the facility until the last patient has entered the operating room.
Works with the Surgical Center Administrator, the Medical Director, and Co-Chiefs of Surgery to help create and execute the AAAASF accreditation to achieve ongoing accreditation for our Office Based Surgical Suite.
Develop clinical procedures
Develops appropriate admission and discharge procedures
Researches and prepares cost reduction proposals
Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to appropriate team members.
Coordinate, staff and schedule the Medical Staff
Manage & report (weekly) on the patient scheduling process and surgical bookings
Manage the medical supplies inventory and ordering process
Act as RN circulator within the Surgical Suite
Ensure ongoing accreditation of Surgical Center
Identify nursing staffing requirements to the Director of Operations and assist in the recruitment, interview and hiring of individuals.
Monitor and evaluate performance of staff on an ongoing basis
Works with the Administrator to assure compliance with surgicenter policies and procedures and governmental regulations pertaining to:
Controlled substances and other pharmaceuticals
Infection control (will function as the Infection control officer)
CPR, ACLS, safety and risk management
Quality improvement and quality assurance.
Emergency codes and evacuation
patient scheduling process
Ensure OSHA standards are met
Ensure that the Medical Staff team is current with patient charting, medical consents, medical clearances, patient surgical packets, surgical documentation, and EMR administration
Develop & maintain a medical supply ordering & inventory process.
Coordinate surgical patient scheduling
Ensure Operating rooms are ready for the current and next day patients (pull instruments, assure disposables available).
Manage, maintain, and coordinate the maintenance and service of our surgical machines/equipment and other medical equipment at our facility based on manufacturer guidelines
Manage the relationships with key suppliers of medical supplies and products
Keep Medical Director promptly and fully formed of all matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary.
Performs supervisory functions to manage personnel.
Determines standards of performance to review the progress of personnel.
Recommend transfers, promotions, and dismissals.
Identify educational needs/ opportunities.
Ensure proper training of personnel assigned.
Provide Leadership Staff meetings
Ongoing department goal setting & performance management
Plan & execute the priorities of the facility to ensure uninterrupted operations
Notifies of the need for office supplies/ equipment that is not in proper working order
Assures the office is in a clean and orderly condition, properly stocked, and in a condition suitable to provide the services in a professional environment
The Director of Nursing shall maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all patient information, including personal information, treatment, and financial information.
The Director of Nursing will be expected to maintain a flexible schedule to participate in management, staff, departmental meetings, training sessions, and practice events such as cosmetic and open-house events.
