The Health Science Instructors will lead the Health Sciences courses related to the Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) curriculum, act as a Nurse Aide Program Coordinator, and assist the district with developing a district-wide pre-K through age 21 health care pathway.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

Instruction:

Using a learner-centered industry aligned approach that promotes collaboration, a growth mindset, and design thinking; the Health Science Instructors will provide instruction and facilitate the students' navigation of the coursework and clinical experiences required to obtain their CNA license.
The CNA program will prepare the student for employment as a nurse aide in hospital, home-care, skilled care and hospice facilities. The entry level skills of a nurse aide are an excellent introduction to a broad range of health professions. Nurse aides provide close personal care for a variety of clients.

Certified Nurse Aide Program
NUA 101 Nurse Aide Healthcare Skills
HPR 144 Comprehensive Medical Terminology
NUA 170 Nurse Aide Clinical Experience
NUA 171 Advanced Nurse Aide Clinical

Nursing Program Coordination

Act as official Nursing Program Coordinator per the Colorado Board of Nursing
Responsible for managing the program in accordance with all Colorado Board of Nursing regulations

Work Based Learning and Clinical Coordination

Maintain current care facility partnerships, and cultivate new partnerships as necessary
Facilitate clinical schedules with students
Coordinate student clinical schedules with partner care facilities
Supervision of Clinical Instructors who oversee day to day clinical experiences for students

HOSA-Future Health Professionals Chapter Advisor

Maintain a HOSA chapter in good standing with the Colorado Community College System State CTE Office
Maintain 100% student participation rates
Facilitate HOSA fundraising and budget
Facilitate annual HOSA student officer elections
Facilitate monthly HOSA chapter meetings
Facilitate internal HOSA competitions for student members
Attend the HOSA Fall Leadership and Spring State Conferences as appropriate
Attend National HOSA events as appropriate.

CTE Program Lead

Work in partnership with the District Career and Technical Education lead to:
Create and maintain a program budget
Create a five year plan for the continual improvement of the program and update annually
Update course descriptions as necessary
Explore future course offerings
Maintain a list of consumables, equipment, and materials that are necessary to operate the program and may benefit the program
Track student participation and completion data and student post-secondary placement

Other Opportunities

Assist the Department of Innovation, Equity & Learning with:

The creation of a district-wide Pre-K-age 21 healthcare education to career pathway
Consult with district schools at all levels to best prepare students for the Healthcare pathway and associated programs
Liaise with college, university, and healthcare industry partners to best prepare LPS students for their next steps in their education and career
Assist in the visioning and design of any new healthcare education spaces and student learning experiences in the new Career Education Center (which will open in the fall of 2023)
Candidate Qualifications

B.S. degree in Nursing
Hold or be eligible to hold a Colorado Teaching License and/or Career and Technical Education credential
Hold active unencumbered Colorado Registered Nurse License.
BLS CPR/First Aid certified required or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire required.
2 years of nursing experience including 1 year of long term care. (Please provide details regarding this experience in your cover letter or resume.)
Completion of a course in training adults (or a masters degree in nursing education/leadership)

Knowledge, Skills & Dispositions:

Knowledgeable about many foundational (e.g. formative assessment, Understanding by Design) and Future of Learning instructional and assessment practices (e.g. competency based assessment, designing deeper learning, learner agency); ability to transfer knowledge to support/ evaluate quality implementation of practices, and knowledge of K-12 educational landscape.
Willingness to engage in important conversations in order to better understand oneself and others in the context of historical and present-day inequities.
Exceptional project management skills with an ability to produce high-quality deliverables on time and on budget, as well as manage in all directions.
High emotional intelligence and low ego. An appreciation for the messiness of the work and the humility that is required with a growth mindset where continuous mutual feedback is viewed as a gift.
Entrepreneurial disposition including strategic thinking and ability to operationalize ideas as well as ability to make new connections and envision creative possibilities.
