Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensures that patient care requirements are met by scheduling and assigning staff; monitoring attendance, and taking appropriate action.
Ensures that individual, changing needs of individuals are met by establishing resident care goals, planning and organizing delivery of nursing services according to individual care plans, observing subordinate nursing staff, and implementing interventions as needed.
Establishes a compassionate environment by developing and maintaining positive relationships with and providing support to staff, residents, and residents’ caregivers through direct interaction and telephone contact as needed.
Assures quality of care by enforcing adherence to state nursing requirements as well as DFS and CARF regulations, monitoring changes in resident condition, communicating changes in resident condition in a timely manner to the resident’s physician(s) and caregiver(s), implementing physician’s orders, etc.
Maintains nursing staff job results by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, establishing training goals to improve results, conducting and directing training to meet those goals, assessing effectiveness of training and in-service programs, taking corrective action as needed and by coaching, counseling, and taking appropriate corrective action with employees.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring the processing and communication of confidential information.
Ensures 24 hour-a-day/365 day-a-year on-call nursing support to the scheduled staff by establishing and participating in a “Nurse On-Call” schedule.
Hours are 7a.m. to 7 pm and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Minimum experience required: Progressive experience in the nursing profession from staff nurse to nursing supervision responsibilities (ideally, AND); three(3) to five (5) or more years’ experience in long-term care setting, preferably some or all of that experience in a continuing care retirement community
