Job Title - Director of Nursing
Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring adequate training of staff, adequate care planning for clients, and ensuring appropriate protocols are in place for the safety, health and well-being of clients and compliance with state requirements. This role supervises all nursing and direct care staff.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
• Provides guidance and counseling to staffing, caregiving and clinical team to assist them in continually improving all aspects of services, provided through organization personnel
• Supports site leadership of staff that creates employees and clients for life
• Leads and manages in alignment with company strategy tools and expectations
• Assists in establishing, implementing, and evaluating goals and objectives for care that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy
• Demonstrates Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Situational Leadership
• Adheres to all performance, confidentiality and professional standards
• Assists with orientation of new personnel
• Ensures smooth delivery of all services and resources
• Troubleshoots and responds to service opportunities, issues or questions
• Contributes new ideas for efficiency and improved systems
Clinical Leadership and Support
• Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to all direct care personnel as needed
• Oversees the maintenance of health records, statistics, and reports for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities
• Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state and federal laws
• Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of client care
Financial
• Owns, understands, tracks, educates and manages occupancy to budget.
Quality & Compliance
• Assures compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of personnel and maintains compliance to the Comprehensive License Home Care Rule, MN Nurse Practice Act, Housing with Services Contract Act, Vulnerable Adult Act, and the Company’s Policies and Procedures
• Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state and federal laws, including regular auditing for trends, education needs and reporting of organization activities
• Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment
Qualifications
1. Current RN license required; BSN preferred.
2. Knowledge of state/federal licensing statutes and regulation
3. Ability to analyze complex problem situations and make decisions which produce positive results
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
5. Good organizational skills; ability to work independently
6. Ability to promote and maintain a positive attitude and encourage others to do the same
7. Ability to manage several concurrent assignments and prioritize a workload accordingly
8. Ability to lead diverse teams; adjust styles
