The Foundation for Positively Kids is immediately seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work Friday's and Saturday's and join our busy Pediatric clinic caring for a special needs population of children. This is for a part-time position. Thursday, Friday and Saturday's ONLY.
The APRN performs professional medical work in care and treatment of the physically ill and in preventive care for the children and youth under the jurisdiction of the Department of Family Services (DFS). All information regarding each child/youth is confidential in nature.
Document nursing assessments accurately in Athena (electronic medical records). If medications are given, documentation in progress note is necessary to note child/youth’s status at time of administration, particularly if administering a psychiatric medication.
Address, evaluate and treat the healthcare related complaints or concerns of children/youth at Child Haven. Conduct sick calls, assess, and evaluates the healthcare needs for any child/youth on Child Haven.
Initiate, maintain, and update medical record for child/youth housed at the Child Haven campus.
Communicate effectively with necessary staff, medical providers, parents (foster & natural) up-to-date medical history as available to ensure continuity of care for the child/youth housed on Child Haven Campus. This includes, but is not limited to, consultations with DFS staff based on observations and recommendations.
While on duty, carry a cell phone for emergency situations.
Institute and maintain Universal Precautions before, during, and after each encounter with child/youth. Maintain good hand washing.
Intake Assessments – to be completed according to guidelines.
Respect cultural and religious practices of patients.
Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts.
Must have current Nevada licensure
Two to three years of experience and one year in Pediatrics
Current CPR/BLS and Health Card
Knowledge of infection control procedures
Ability to read, write legibly, and comprehend the written and spoken work in English
Basic computer literacy and ability to effectively learn new software programs.
